Black Obsidian is a volcanic stone, created when felsic lava cools at a rapid rate. Most Black Obsidian is sourced from North America, especially in Utah and Wyoming. This stone is very popular in the metaphysical community due to its healing properties. Black Obsidian is believed to enhance mental clarity and self-awareness. When used as a protective crystal, Black Obsidian is also said to block out negative energies.
